Sad but interesting little story. I like the unexpected transition from what we think is reality to it actually being a tape (which I guess I could have seen coming from the title). Raises intriguing questions.
My only criticism is that the sentence " She already knew that the tape had been worn thin from constant use, but she wished she knew how to fix it." doesn’t flow terribly well.
Wonderful move from a conversation to playback. Ah, the foibles of technology. Is it only my mind that immediately jumps to ‘she killed him’? If so, then a moving scene of never-letting-go, if a tiny bit creepy. Makes you wonder what happened.
