The War Room
Huh. Secrecy’s blown all to hell now, thought the Chief as he put the phone down. Not like we can hide one of those wandering down a city street. He stood from his chair and strode from the office.
The armies would be deployed within minutes, but would that be quick enough? In that time, those things could kill thousands; they were bloodthirsty beasts, after all. He’d never thought that they would dare to send the beasts here, though. And he still had no idea what was causing the explosions — that had never happened before.
At least the protector was doing its job. He still wasn’t pleased that it had chosen to reveal itself, but that would have happened anyway, and keeping the subject safe was probably more important anyway.
And finally, he reached the War Room. It held battle maps, technical documents, all of the information they’d need for this fight. At least, he certainly hoped it did.
