okay so here is a guy asking for a phone ( i was hoping it was a woman, the other traveler) and the disheveled man just hands it over? this guy is not smart. Then he learns he is at the end of a gun and that this was not some random stranger.
Thing is, I was hoping for clarity by now, but the guy is weak and unanswered questions will bore your reader. There better be an action sequence next where the weak man uses ninja skillz to get the gun away from the second traveler..

you said it yourself. the guy is weak. no self respecting hero would be at the end of his rope like that, he’s just a normal guy, like you or me, a normal guy pushed into a unique situation. we all lose and we lose big, that’s life.
