Drifting
She felt her body lurch as she was lifted skyward; through the dense tree-lined roof of the forest, toward the shaft of light which shone through. She felt weightless; emotionless as she drifted clear of the forest and into the open air. The sun shone brightly and the warmth beat down on her cold face, the heat warming her skin as she soared towards the heavens.
He watched as she drifted away, looking ever more distant; ever more cold. As the sun shone through the treetops, the air was cleared of emotion. She had departed. He released his hands from her neck.
