Nice continuation with some detailed knowledge of chess coming through nicely. I liked the somber, serious tone to it.

first off – congrats on being featured.

somehow this series slipped under my radar. Who thought a story about playing chess with a demon would be a good story? both you guys (jim and seb) have done a great job on this small series.

I will say this has reminded me of the Grim Reaper in Bill and Teds Bogus Journey, where they are challenged to a game for their souls.

I’ve got to admit, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a story that involves the playing of a game of chess. I’m sure it’s been done somewhere along the line, but it’s certainly not a common theme. It’s like what I’ve said elsewhere on Ficly regarding science fiction, it’s immensely gratifying to me to have a story about chess be both interesting and engaging for readers. Kudos to Seb for coming up with the idea and allowing me to help shape the story. :)
