Interesting perspective of the post-war experience. So much of what we see is the other side, the other reaction, when life at home takes on the color of the battlefield, with even innocent stimuli being seen as potential hazards. At least, that’s what I see professionally and it seems a lot of movies go there. I appreciated reading this, as it’s a good reminder that some people do thrive on it and come back with that sense of accomplishment.
This was brought on by a conversation I had recently with a friend of mine. We were discussing what I’ve been doing since I left the service and my feelings about my time in the service. There is little that compares with my time in the military, either positive or negative, and I find myself trying to adjust to a life outside of it even today.
