Wow, absolutely brutal, but written in an effectively calm, detached way that seems to fit the situation and the utter resignation of the narrator. Very nicely done to create a portrait of a dysfunctional relationship that has run its course. Feels like one of those things a person knows they really should say but can’t bring themselves to actually do it, so things linger on and on and on until some convenient juncture for ending things.
