A Conversation Between Brothers
“Hades, my brother, I trust that you are well?”
“Zeus. I am well. How are you?” Hades asked.
“Ah, as well as can be expected,” Zeus said. “What brings you from your realm?”
“I have a problem-” Hades began.
“Ah, yes. Charon quit on you.”
“How did you know?” Hades asked.
“You forget. I am the king of the gods, brother,” Zeus stated matter-of-factly.
“Tch. Still you call yourself king? You are no king of mine, brother.”
“Hades, I will not tolerate this today,” Zeus threatened.
“Ha! You are no king. You are merely the one who wasn’t eaten.”
“Hades, I am your king, whether you like it or not.”
“Whatever. Do not forget, my brother, that one day you, too, shall pass through my realm. No one is going to be king when that day comes,” Hades said.
“Aye, but that day is far off.”
“Not as far as you’d like, eh King Zeus?” Hades said with a smirk.
“Please remove yourself from my realm,” Zeus said angrily.
“Fine, perhaps I’ll visit our brother. Mayhap he can help me. Goodbye, my king.”
“Get out!”
