Took me a bit to get a grasp on it, I think a consequence of ficly length and missing the initial switch in narrator. Comma placement in the sentences about the explosion completely threw me. Might be worth a revision.
Lots of really cool ideas in here, like the theme Elsha mentioned as well as just taking the story somewhere other than the scrap heap.
