What Madness Is This
He wondered how obvious it was that he thought they were all crazy. If this was a joke … no, of course it was a joke. Who could speak seriously of elves and tengu and magic like they were real things? Were elves even in the Japanese mythos? More like Kou’s gaming habit showing again.
Unless it was a dream.
The last thing he remembered before all this nonsensical talk had begun was pain, heinous pain. His migraines had been getting worse lately, to the point of almost passing out from the pain on his really bad days. Maybe he had taken something, maybe they had slipped him something, maybe this was all a dream.
He liked the sound of that. Better than thinking his friends were secretly callous assholes, taking a lame joke this far.
The shadows were now dancing black imps at Yuu’s feet. Definitely a dream.
“I know you’re confused, but it’s all right. We’ll take care of you. Everything is going to be just fine, you’ll see.”
“Yuu’s right, Kai, just trust us.”
Just a dream, right? So how did he wake up?
