Nicely done. I like the thoughtful mood in the midst of blazing action that you describe but still leaving hanging out there like a dream while the thought process is the more pressing reality. Very cool.

That first little paragraph might have benefited if you could have found an alternate word for ‘memories’, just to avoid repetition.
