Where We Stand
I’m standing – alone,
Distant from your smile.
I don’t have a plan,
But I’m staring at my hand.
A thought of you flashes
And my stomach begins to flutter.
I look up to the past.
The sky begins to shutter.
Only in dreams,
So it seems.
Another night with you on my mind.
I hope your stance moves closer to me.
I shine brighter for you.
I hope you’ve noticed this rise.
I long to brush the hair behind your ear
And see my sparkle in your eyes.
If only you knew
How I wanted you –
You’d think my efforts
Would be a clue.
So all I can do
Is continue to bask
Until I find the right time
To finally ask.
I’m standing in your shadow,
Closer to your glow.
It’s hard for me to hold this back,
But may I be your beau?
