Great idea! I’d suggest putting “Life is hungry.” at the end to leave the reader unsure about what the dog’s doing until the last second.

Thanks for the input! I had initially wanted an ending that felt similar to your suggestion, but it was late when I wrote this and I was pretty snoozy, and every ending I wrote sounded pretty mediocre. Thankfully, when I woke up this morning I was able to come up with an ending that I think is a bit better. Thanks again for your comment.
