It’s a little confusing knowing who is saying what. I think with a little clarification and expantion, this story could be a contender.

Yep, definitely confusing as just dialog, especially with the twist. A fun and funny idea all the same, a name chosen by a game of cards and possibly even a sub-conscious, punitive name choice by the dad still bitter about his own name.
