Paranoid

Bang! Mleep!

He looked up, over his newspaper, to the other side of the road.
A man got out of his car, slamming the door. A little ‘blip’ and a flash indicated that the car was now locked. Then he walked to towards the coffee shop, striding quickly towards him.
His eyes flicked back to the headline.
He took a sip of his coffee.
He glanced back at the man, who was now ordering a drink at the counter.

He told himself he was just paranoid. That the man was not the same man that he had spotted yesterday whilst out. That it wasn’t the car that he’d seen drive down his road every morning since last week. That it wasn’t that superstitious to wear a long overcoat, a hat, and dark glasses everyday.

He was just paranoid.
He went back to reading his paper and sipping coffee.

Thumck! Scree!

‘I have a question for you, Mr Watts’

Startled, he blinked, and looked towards the speaker.

The mysterious man was sitting facing him, slowly removing his sunshades.
