The story is familiar and beautiful… but perhaps the word “eidolon” is a little too clinical for such a personal story. It’s kind of heartbreaking because it’s such a brilliant piece of art, that every time that word is mentioned my heart breaks a little for the quality.
I’m sorry August… it’s only one word but it brings down the atmosphere of this whole piece a couple of notches.

@PJ I can see what you mean. Is ‘phantasm’ a better word? I don’t want to use ‘ghost’ or ‘spirit’.

Phantasm is definately better… It’s definitely a more “intimate-sounding” word… softer and less clinical.

A really touching story, just gorgeous!

Tragic and sad. Sounds almost like one or both of them are depressed or psychotic. Perhaps I’m being too metaphorical though. It just seemed to fit the idea of someone ‘going away’ but still being there.

I can’t tell if this is supernatural or metaphorical. Either way, it’s eerie and I like it.
