It’s sad how often this happens to people. The tragedy of a heartbreak can be crippling to many.

The “engine” of this story turns on at the point you state, “…holding the futile hope that you wouldn’t come home drunk, but you always did.”

So so sad. And it is a relatable tale. Very real. Hard to say that this isn’t awesome, but it’s heartbreaking, I guess that’s a quality of a good piece of writing— if it makes you feel something deeply then it’s worth the read.
