This reminds me of a movie I once saw part of, called “A Scanner Darkly” in which there was a suit with constantly changing features, making the wearer seem totally anonymous. Is that what’s planned for this? Or perhaps you were taking a hint from the movie. Anyway, it’s good, and sets a chilling tone. If no one can describe the killer, how can one find him? Keep it up.
This is a very engaging set-up indeed – at first I was unsure about the tone John takes with Anna – it seemed a little over-friendly and odd, but there’s something about his inquisitiveness in the last line that convinces me he’s just a nice guy…
Incidentally, I’m in the process of learning about the accuracy of eyewitness testimony as part of my Psychology A-Level, so there was some added curiosity here for me – strong work – MH :)
I haven’t (yet) seen “A Scanner Darkly”, so I find the coincidence interesting. :-)
Actually, this was inspired by an old episode of “Criminal Minds”. The bad guy in the episode used lifts to make himself appear taller, then forgot to wear them at one point. It made it look as if there were two different people. I thought, “What if the height differences were recorded at the same robbery?” It quickly evolved into what you read here. :-)
