There’s something precise and delicate, yet epic and grand about this piece – the description of the field of cornflowers is stunningly evocative and poetic.
It almost doesn’t matter that this kind of deep emotional connection to a single shade is unlikely – you paint the picture with such conviction that I want to believe you, and that’s more than enough to carry the piece through.
Particularly, I like that whilst other entries in this challenge have placed the challenge requirement in nonchalantly, in passing – this pays real tribute to the potential power of colour. The second half is weaker than the first, feeling slightly rushed, and with a relatively predictable ending, but it’s still a stellar entry – good work! MH :)
Neat idea and a good description of this one moment in life sticking with him in such an indelible way. If you wanted to clean it up, I’d say take out the ‘almost’ in that initial description, maybe even swap out the “It was…” for a comma or dash.
That was amazingly done. I really like the central importance of the color to the story’s plot. An obsession or even a haunting by the color that he began seeing everywhere. I also love how the cornflower color was seen in the cornflowers. It gives you more of a point to using the color that way. Other entries just seemed to place cornflower randomly when they wanted to use the word blue.

congrats! This seemed to be exactly the way a movie would put in the color in scenes to make us feel the association between color and emotion that the character feels.
