This story is straight to the point— which I find to be much better than something written at the other end of that spectrum (something filled with fluff and flowery phrases). The opening paragraph after the dialogue is my favorite part— its a back and forth conversation about perspective, and you express this theme on many different levels (in the mind, imagination, with sight, and sound) and they all get your point across very well. I can tell that you are a smart person who has some good ideas after reading this :) thanks for reposting it for me.
