A Regret
She smiled at me; a faint, half smile that seemed to make her eyes tilt slightly. She was so close now, her hand wrapped lightly around my wrist so that I almost thought I would feel her fingerprints imprinting on my skin. Her breath was warm as it floated down to my neck, forcing me shudder inside, my insides squirming slightly.
For a moment she faltered. Her eyes widened and glowed with anticipation yet her grip on my wrist loosened. Slowly, uncertainly, her fingers drifted up my arm, barely touching until they rested on the curve of my neck.
Are you—
Her voice seemed to be inside my head, dancing along the corridors of my mind leaving in her path a blissful echo. I nodded before she finished and she smiled again. Her hand took a firmer grip on my neck, wrapping around until her fingers graced my hairline. I could feel her breath on my lips and my eyes widened, suddenly uncertain.
But hers were closed now, caught in the moment.
What was I doing?
But… what was I about to do?
I turned my head away.
