Originally called “Her Face” until I saw that the challenge specified that the title of the ficly had to be the disability that the protagonist had. I still think I like “Her Face” better, but I couldn’t work out an effective way of doing a double-barrelled title. Still, it was good fun doing something like this. It was very different to my normal style.
This hits rather close to home for me; I myself have a mild form of autism called “Asperger’s Syndrome,” and am generally rather awkward in social situations such as the one described above. Thank you for sharing this perspective with the world.
I liked this because even though I’m not autistic, my cousin is and he acts a lot like this. I like how he didn’t recognize the fact that she was being cruel to him, and even if he did he didn’t seem to care.
Thanks for your encouragement guys, this was a challenging one. Oh, and if anyone was wondering, “Speds” is a term that I heard while living here in Australia. I don’t know if anyone else has heard it before. I certainly hadn’t heard of it back in the UK. Apperantly, it’s short for “*Sp*ecial *Ed*ucation.” I’m not sure if it’s meant to be an unpleasant term, but I have a feeling it’s not meant kindly.
