Heavy with unspoken information. Almost feels like the opening of a novel. The opening was concise and surreal for the setup, followed by a paragraph that leads me to think the world is not as it was. Any way you could explain the tags?
Sure- Fiction: It’s a work of fiction Horror: I’m not sure where I landed but I was aiming for horror Smart Cultists: In Lovecraft many of the cultists are rednecks or savages, this story required above average cultists Sam: Named Character UNP: My code for Un-Named Protagonist The Three Sacrifices were money, power and respect- and went Owner of the Bank (unstated- heart removed), more than a million dollars cash, and the sacrifice of respect from the UNP’s peers/group by bullying one of their members Weaken Reality: Use the sacrifices as fodder to weaken what we perceive as normal reality to create a “soft spot” Soft Spot: A place where reality is weakened, allowing weird things to happen (think graveyards, abandoned houses, strange woods, faerie circles etc) in this case perhaps allow Something from Somewhere Else access or point of entry.
I don’t know if that helps but if you have more questions, let me know. Thanks for the comment and the score.
I think not having read Lovecraft is a hindrance to me. horror is not a genre i pick from at the library. Maybe I should, it would teach me about villains.
