For some reason this freaked me out immensely.

I really like the imagery in this. Also, that’s a great tag.

Tag was just going to be ‘being a whore’ but I might want to use that to describe actual narrative at some point.

There’s nothing wrong with whoring off another author so long as you acknowledge it.

There’s something about the meter of this that makes it seem more like a short piece of free verse, but that fits well with the prequel

Also, I now have the phrase “skritches and scratches” stuck in my head.

Before I even read your comment, I thought this story was a solid meeting of Saint-Exupéry and Calvino, while managing to prequel another story and be wholly original. You’ve done more work in one story than I’ve done in a dozen and a half. It’s great.
