I’m confused. I thought your first installment of “Dangerous Boundaries” came from Lukas’s point of view. NOW it seems to come from the old man, Sirach’s POV. I had to go back and read the prequel to figure it out.

I think the mistake is that you discribe the old man as if Lukas is observing Sirach. And since we don’t hold a mirror up to ourselves Sirach would have described Lukas Not himself. Hope this helps.
