creepy, I thought he was Hulk for a moment. i’m wondering what they mean by lucid, and what the restraints were, a dream or real. Say they were brainwashed to line up and take the shot, but there were no real restraints, then becoming lucid would allow the character to move freely. Too bad for the burns, but I guess they had to control him somehow..
I’m afraid this is one of those ficlies you have to get straight away. Perhaps I didn’t make it explicit enough, but I like to leave something to the readers imaginatin rather than spell it out explicitly.
The story was about a man who suffers recurring nightmares over the death of his squad. As he becomes lucid, he attempts to change the events in his mind to save them, but inevitably the outcome of the dream was the same as the memory. The point of it was that sometimes, the greatest nightmare can be our own memories.
