I almost wanted the voice to be some sort of fire witch, muahaha. This is a great stand alone piece, though it deserves a prequel to give us how the fire started and who he is and where he is.. he or she.
Actually Elsha, that was EXACTLY what I had in mind when I wrote this. I actually wanted to produce an apparition walking through the flames at the part where it said “I turned, a pleading look.”
Unfortunately, I was fighting the word limit to the bitter end on this one. I lost :’( But I am very glad you enjoyed it!
My one and only complaint about this piece are those last three words. I’ve never understood how a character can relate something that happened to him after he’s already been killed by that event. Other than that one thing, though, this is a very intense piece that begs further elaboration.
