Love vs Continuing existence? It’s all written down that we must copulate and continue the human race. Or unwritten down. French confuses me but I understand that. It could only have been more obvious if you had said Voulez vous couchez avec moi? Haha

I love the middle stanza. I interpreted it as parents looking back at their children, hence “We give our traits to; to survive.”
I also like the clouds line…I can’t remember what term it is. Metaphor? Huh.

I plugged ‘a la menage a trois’ into a french to english translator and got ‘Has the household has three’ :/ fail, haha.

@Pan— I think it’s love working with continuing existence, not vs. And your french came out as ‘Do you want lay with me?’— missing a ‘to’— but it’s much more coherent than whatever the heck I thought I was talking about. Needless to say I’m going to rework my ignorant french in this poem.

@Kihd— It could be a metaphor, but that might be over thinking it mainly cuz I wouldn’t exactly know what it would stand for. I meant it to be surreal and dreamlike more so than anything— while imparting a truth or two. I wish I had meant to mangle the french language…but admittedly that was an after thought :)

I like it. Very vague, as a poem really should be, but it came across as a contemplation of love and instinct and how we navigate life with the two.

The translator misinterpreted the ‘a’, since you didn’t have the accent needed for how you were using it. The phrase ‘menage a trois’ means loosely ‘mix of three’, but I think we all know what it means.

And with the voulez-vous phrase the ‘to’ isn’t missing. The French don’t use ‘to’ in that way and verbs exist with that word sort of understood.

Blah, blah, blah, shut up about the French already, THX.
