There are a lot of things the speaker could do, for instance; even though it might not seem ‘hip’ by todays standards, play parcheese. Or she could watch reruns of welcome back carter. She could also start collecting stamps but that just might make her more depresedded if she is someone who does not get alot of mail, lets just stick with welcome back carter.

For what it’s worth, it was Kotter we welcomed back, not Carter. Also for what it’s worth, sitting and waiting is sometimes the only thing that you can do. Don’t be too hard on yourself and mistake a lack of action for a lack of empathy.
