In Between Minds: Reconnaissance

The train to Riga was arriving in 40 minutes, while the Moscow departure was an hour away. The trip to Moscow was relatively short, and I thought I could lose myself in the crowds of people easily. I walked to the ticket agent’s position and, within a few moments, I had a ticket for the Moscow train.

I looked around the station. There were waiting areas on the second floor, and stairs in both the front and back of the station. The front of the building was a wall of glass, providing a good view of the street outside and part of the parking area. From the waiting area, I would be able to have a good view of the main hall and the front doors without being conspicuous.

I climbed the rear stairs to the waiting area. There were a few people up here, but none were conscious. I found a seat with a view and emptied my pockets into the seat next to me. I started sorting through the contents, keeping what had value, discarding the rest.

A car pulled up to the front of the station. Three men and a woman got out.
