Being late for something has got to be good luck eventually but maybe not for Twerp. Not a book I’m working on or have ever wanted to write. Might make a good kids book though…
It’s quite gruesome— it has the imagination of a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip and the same sort of main character. There’s definitely sequel potential :) will poor Twerp be eaten? — funny name for the main character too.
Tad, I LOVE the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip so that makes some sense as I flap at the cobwebs in my mind. I love kids with funny names. I like purple monsters even more!
This is a beginning? I hope there are more characters! :P He really should have been able to see that crater from a mile away, but since he’s late, he must be one distracted kid! That’s what gives this a movie-feel. We pan out from the character to the scene. Its a great stand alone ficly too, if you just let it eat him and be done with it.
Thanks i, Coomber! Tad, didn’t think of it as all THAT gruesome yet. No blood described, right? Great points Elsha! I had envisioned him pushing through an overgrown hole in a fence onto the ball field, just wasn’t able to put that in there. Your correct, it could go either way but there would be more characters to work with never fear…
But that wasn’t what made Twerp ready to catch pop-flies with his mouth. This and the last line are my favorites. I imagine Twerp is finding the alien is much bigger than he imagined and is out having adventures in bizarre digestive systems while the alien goes on a purple rampage, and finally keels over in a burbling wurbling popping mess as Twerp emerges from an unthinkable place.
