It’s just a few people being dicks about a rule they made up. Fuck ’em.

I will say that if you’re going to do sequels, each segment should still stand well on its own instead of treating each sequel as part of the same chapter, not needing their own individual conclusions. That’s sloppy and lazy in my opinion. But that’s not an inherent problem with writing sequels to your own material. Just with bad writing discipline.
