I like court room drama like the next person but am a bit confused.
So he is trying to be noticed by God by commiting a crime? I can see where he might to gain vengence against God. Is it like a little kid pestering a parent? I like the build up to the last line and wonder from the title “Monster” how bad his crime is.

The six-inch heels indicates that, regardless of whether the man had gotten God’s attention, he’s definitely gotten someone else’s.

I enjoyed this story.
