Monster: Song inspired
“Well, why haven’t you left yet? You said that we couldn’t work out.” I could see the hurt behind her eyes, as much as she tries to hide it. I clutch my bag tightly, watching her devastation before me, knowing that I had caused it and with what was happening now, I can’t turn back.
“I’m not a monster,” I start, not looking at her. “I know you’re fragile, I know that I’ve got some explaining to do.” I wish I could stay here, Meg, I wish I could tell you I love you, but I’ve got to keep lying, I can’t tell you the truth.
“Why don’t you explain then?” She hisses angrily.
Sighing, I answer, “I can’t tell you why, but I know this is the last time you’re ever going to speak to me. One day you’ll see where this came from, you’ll look back and smile and see where you’d be. I have to leave. I’m not the one you should love, Meg, I’m not the one you should trust.”
“But I do love you! Why are you leaving?” Her eyes are teary.
“I have to leave.” I look at her one last time then walk out of the door.
