This stemmed from a twitter slip up where @ketmakkura accidentally typed ‘men and paper’ instead of pen and paper. I took the challenge to write the urban fantasy novel of a writer and her men.. then shared the link with ket and others who saw the tweet. :) Free Ficly advertising! Feel free to sequel!
An interesting idea, well executed. In the 1st paragraph, “skin like chocolate milk” gives a good indication of color, but “skin like milk chocolate” would provide color and texture. In the 2nd paragraph, what’s the laptop for if she’s using pen and paper?
haha, for warmth! we were talkin’ about pen and paper versus typing, but this was urban fantasy, and I know I have to type it out too. Maybe she was doing research.. maybe she had to send out her work to her editor.. it made a nice picture in my head!
She can’t draw as easily on her laptop while typing. Or she may have been transferring handwritten material onto the computer.
Nice work here. It’s surprising how real her characters feel despite being twice removed from this world – first by Ficly, then by her story within a story.
Elsha! Hot! I really liked the doodling and dreaming our scribe did to bring her men on paper to life. I also draw characters so that I can better imagine all the naunces of their place in the world.
Lovely little tale of the frustrated pool from whence springs lurid romance novels. Great job painting that picture without being derogatory towards her or being blatantly obvious.
It’s got Mills & Boone (pfft spelling) all over it, but with an Elsha twist for that extra zing. Loving it Elsh, makes me all tingly for all the right reasons.
Just me thinking Pilgram’s comment was unnecessary?
