It’s sequels like this that really astound me. While little action occurs – enough to sum up in a sentence or two – there is such a cramming of information provided. We get a peek into the depth of the main character’s friendship with Halstead, his feelings for his fiancé, and even his opinion of himself.

The inclusion of the Latin “spellcasting,” for lack of a better term, gives me a sense that this could almost be an alternate version of our world. Not quite sure I understand the meaning though, even after running it through Google translate. “A time to circumflex the betrayal of love,” perhaps? Could that have been the voice of his betrothed coming through?

Lots and lots to think about. I already know where this is going next.

Just to help with the Latin, since I’m half making that up, the translation was intending to be roughly, “Time bends, love holds/contains…betrayal!” I’m open to correction of my Latin.

Now that I look at it, I’m not sure what I meant by that anyway. Maybe she’s half mad at this point?
