For some weird reason I read the last line first and so was expecting something morbid happening. When nothing did, I was slightly surprised, read the line again, and said “d’oh”.
Typo: 2nd-to-the-last line, be should be me I think you meant.
I like how the optimism just bleeds from his account. Even though I don’t get how time travel worked here (relativistic effects? How do you calculate overtime pay with relativistic effects?) the piece is still very cute.:D
How does the time travel work? I have no idea! Time is relative. Can time be traversed? Or is it instead the traveling in space that changes our perception of time? Again, I have no idea.
Fun little description. It reads like he’s excitedly retelling it. It’s one of those ones that sounds sci-fi in its trappings, but if you squint it could just be a different way of looking at what happens during normal space flights, other than that insane travel speed.
Funny thing is that insane travel speed is factual. The Space Shuttle travels at speeds of 17,000 to 18,000 mph when orbiting the earth, or at least it used to. =(
