A fantastic prequel. The dialog is chillingly real, and the emotion seemingly bursts from it. I like the direction you brought this, setting up for the sequel in a way unlike I pictured, which is undoubtedly a good thing.
At first I didn’t think I would like it, but by the time I got to the end, it worked.
It’s hard to walk the line between dreamlike dialog that doesn’t have to make sense and something that is hard to read. I would recommend starting on a more easy-to-read line to drag the reader in, and then bring the weirder stuff once the reader is hooked.
