Both characters are developed nicely while staying true to the feel of the story.

Typo: Exultant no “h”?

I love that it is too loud for conversation, that Brynn is tired from sleepless nights, and that Hale doesn’t seem to notice her head on his shoulder because he has to think up strategy. This really adds a lot!

Maybe he didn’t notice, I like that bit. And the dreams as far reaching talons. It runs well with Elsha’s. I love the energy that burst from the sequel and how this time it seems overwhelmed by tiredness, a good reaction.
