Interesting read. I saw your tags after the fact and hadn’t even seen this as fantasy. It sounded more like inside the very twisted mind of a pyromaniac.

Well, it is true that it’s the ramblings of a pyromainiac, but the fantasy part applies to a more literal interpretation. Admittedly, it could also be applied to a more mundane version, but it was sort of meant to be ambiguous.
And standalone. I included as little taken for granted stuff about my world as possible.

There’s something almost resigned in this – calm, emotionless – except for a hint of something in the past line.
