This is a great exposition of the colloquialism: “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings.” – Which means, one should not assume the outcome of something.
At the beginning, I halfway expected this to be a story about a rude, bratty kid – like I used to be. I was happy to be reminded that there can be something good in what we think there can’t – even something good in those rude and bratty kids like I was.
Sir Bic, thank your for your insight. Yes, I was the bratty kid. The transition works because its a true story. And, I did “see the light” during a church experience. Finally, I never considered “the fat lady”. Could this piece be considered a parable? I’m not sure.
