Good Intentions

“Hitler?”
“Name of the implant,” said the X12 Continuum Commander. He was behind the computer trying to get the link to the X12 Continuum back up. “An M64J.”
“Cool unit,” said the Sector X Maximum Leader. “What’s wrong?”.
“It went in after they got electrical transmission."
“Arrg! What moron did that? The M64J is extremely sensitive to electromagnetic radiation during implant.
The Commander sighed. “It a difficult continuum. Local time is quick and with the bad link we’re lucky if we get in an action every 40 or 50 years.”
“But it was all good,” said the Leader. “The Renaissance, the Enlightenment, democracy was getting started.”
“The French Revolution went seriously wrong and things got out of hand." The Commander got back at the keyboard. "We tried the implant but we missed the window by about 10 years.”
“OK, so what’s the plan?”
“We’re slipping him a poisoned steak in 1936 that would kill a zort.”
The screen came into focus.
“Crap.”
“What?”
“He became a vegetarian in 1931.”
