It feels wrong commenting on this…but I still am, because this kind of writing is important to me.

I don’t know what to say. I don’t want to say I know how you feel, because I hate saying that… But I know this letter? Maybe because I’ve written it so many times before, in my head.

I’ll leave off the religious and philosophical discussion and comment on the writing. Raw, heartfelt, and honest. Nicely done on that count.

You brought up some thought-provoking issues in a lighthearted way, making them easier for a reader to digest. There is a whirlwind of emotions here; Tired, mockery, crazed, fear, allegiance, pretend, pretentiousness, and love, veiled in a simple message.

I noticed you ended the letter in verse. That was a nice touch of innocence.

This resonates very much with me, having grown up in a fundamentalist christian environment, and now considering myself atheist…

The verses at the end seem (to me) like your own humanist version of the ’Lord’s Prayer’, if you know what I mean.

I like it! Especially with the verse ending and the sign off. Heartfelt, and the humor helps resonate with like views of how any message can change over time.

I also grew up in a radical fundamentalist christian environment a.k.a. cult, yet surprisingly I’m not an atheist. It took many years of searching to finally catagorize myself as a spiritualist.

Interestingly enough, I didn’t see the humor that the other commenters are mentioning. I found it heartfelt and compelling, instead.
