I really like how “moistened esophagus” works with “voices and mist.” Great poem!

God that’s cold. Really chilling.

I don’t know if ‘esophagus’ is what you meant, seeing as it’s a muscle connecting the mouth and stomache.
I read it wrong at first and thought you meant sarcophagus which kinda made a bit more sense… strangely. Like a body within a shell within a shell.

There’s feeling behind this, despite it being quite empty. But the emptiness is a deep feeling, and a chilling emotion. Especially as to feel empty is a truly terrifying feeling.

creepy.. the esophagus is the turning point, and it threw me, yet it led to conjured images of a mouth open to it’s widest in a scream.

Weird, because people usually think of a soul entering warmth after it leaves the body. Here it’s entering cold… I sense tension, bitterness, yet the feeling of loss. Beautiful.
