A Woman's Worth

“You wouldn’t dare!”
“Tell me now. I saw money and, just maybe we could……?”
A resounding slap echoed through the alley.
“Men, you’e all alike. You take what you will and at your own pleasure. Is a womans suffering for sport, like the bears, or is it to feed your weak egos? You will take nothing from me or I will have you put in that cage myself and have a private viewing while sipping tea!”
He wasn’t sure how he knew but he did, he knew she was serious.
“Wait, what do you mean you would have me in the cage?”
“I’m the secret proprietress of the Bear Garden you oaf! How do you think my father and mother and sisters eat? You are a blind and gullible infant. What work does my father do? “Think about it you simpleton!”
Her father was a well known dog breeder.
“How long have you been engaged in this business agreement?’
The way he asked his question was sincere, and she knew she could still trust him.
“Since our return from Russia with Catherine the Great”.
“The Tsarina?”
