A small resistance of super powered mutants fighting against the multitudes of an army of a Fascist America is good. So I read this and think: wow this dude’s a bit rash. – then I read the story tags and refrained from being quick to cast my judgment. I like the juvenile flow of emotions contrasted with the backdrop of a nation’s imperialistic ideals. – sort of like what the original “Old Yeller” was about. []o)

Ooh, heck of a morality tale there, and not too far removed from present day reality, just replace “superhuman” with “terrorist”. Nicely done, and a good use of the genre—very Twilight Zone-esque.

When I was younger I thought the book was “Old Yellow”, just on account of the accent of the teacher reading it to us.

I really like this. The part about the miliary torturing, not interrogating, was especially evocative.

You ended the story perfectly. The entire rabid dog metaphor was well played out.
