The redshift detail (or lack thereof) was a nice touch. So was “physics wonk.” Sci-fi and survivors’ tales can be overplayed, but this seems a solid story beginning with a likable lead.

I like the reality of hard sci-fi; it makes the story more believable. Exquisite work.
