Ooh. Sometimes these “end of the world” stories are overdone, but this was unique and a fresh sort of take. Wow! I take it that the narrator’s father is Christian, hence the ark. And does he kill him? That’s what I got out of it, anyway… I love this!
The ending is really brutal, and I liked the pitchfork idea/symbolism. The second paragraph was a little hard to follow as to what you really meant, though I still got the overall idea. I think it just may be a typo or two.
I like the idea, and congrats on the feature. I find this sentence confusing, though: “As our new Ark, with its bright orange door, floated through the center of town, my life exposed.” It sounds like there’s a verb missing from the end.
