Google News reported this morning that another Al Queda sleeper cell was raided and taken down by SEALs. Black helicopters over Pakistan – pilotless drones in the tribal wastelands; will this war never end?

I remember May 1st 2011, the raid that killed Osama Bin Ladin. Joy erupted in the streets of the west. It was as if Satan himself had been shot in the head, DNA tested and plopped (with token political correctness) into the ocean.

But within weeks, the sleepers awakened. Every hare-brained scheme in the world suddenly jumped to the front burner. They bomb a subway. We Hellfire a village. They crash an airliner, we raid a compound. We’ve been playing “whack-a-mole” with ever increasing numbers of lunatic jihaddis.

And all the while, we look wistfully back at $3.90 a gallon and wish that someone would just nuke Mecca on Pilgrim Day and get it over with.

I guess that’s why I’m not in charge.

Off to work now. This day always puts me in a bad mood.
