Makes you wonder how one mouse could eat “the children”; honestly hard to wrap my brain around this idea since mice aren’t cannibalistic. Now, if this rat is in love with a cat, different story.
Indeed, I agree with THX and found this amusing. I wasn’t aware that mice eat their young, but it’s not an uncommon practice in the animal world, with mantis’s and spiders eating their mates..
Well, I’m amused. Hitting a cliche in all the right ways, think. The editing critique I’d offer is that you could probably shave down a few of the descriptive words without losing the tone – “the caring Mousington family… who cared,” for example.
Hey all, let’s be nice commenters, now. Misunderstandings happen, no need to get all uppity about them.
That aside, I found this both poignant and utterly amusing. I liked the formal, affectionate tone; I kept having to remind myself this was a mouse/rat. As ridiculous as the idea of a mousy suicide note is, you pulled this off beautifully.
ok look i have only been on ficlets one day and already yall are trying to turn me back into the old me, like a damn nightmare i reappear. STOPWITHALLTHENITPICKING. Damn you could nitpick the Mona lisa to death too Gapp toothed eyebrowless gutter whore or you could see her for her beauty. Remember focus on the finger and miss all of the heavenly glory young grasshopper. This story was a mona lisa i can not think of any other story more original than a suicide note from a rat asking the mom not to eat the kids. and rats do eat their young.
I’m still laughing, I don’t think I’m even breathing at this point! This was the funniest Ficlyt I’ve read to date! And definitely one of my favorites! Well Done!
